Salvation #3: Andrew
Yong
Hi,
I am Andrew, the new kid in the block, I mean blog.
Because
I am new to this space, I feel anxious and awkward. I wonder if I will be
accepted by others who are before me. I am worried I am not good enough to
stay. I am not sure what I should do to become like everybody else.
Then
someone taps me on my shoulder and address me by my first name. He tells me he
has been expecting me. In fact he has been looking for me all this while. I am
so delighted that I feel relaxed and confident about myself. But how am I doing
? I ask him. He says you are OK. He tells that nobody is made for this
space, but that this space is created for everyone who wants to come in.
I
no longer feel alienated, though nothing has changed about me. I feel connected
to all others and am excited to get to know them. I want to contribute to this
space because it is now my own.
Is
not the salvation we experience in Christ works in the same way ?
We
were sinners and we lived an alienated life away from God. Jesus showed us that
God loves us so much He has prepared a new space for us. By entering this new
space we get to enjoy things that we longed for but were not able to obtain
until now. We are no longer a stranger in God's Kingdom. We have found new
relationships we have not known before. We are able to embark on new adventures
we used to only dream about.
That,
is salvation: the space which was not there and was never imagined. It becomes
the joy and hope of all generations because God cares and God comes tapping on
our bewildered souls.
